Elder Gillen made it to Washington

May 17, 2011 Jordan had the opportunity to call home from the airport before he headed out to Washington.  He is doing well looking forward to getting out to the work.  H e didn't know where he would serve when he called.

On May 18 we received an email from my friend Mary Whipple.  Her son is also serving in the Washington Everette Mission.  He had sent his mother a message for us and a few pictures.  Jordan will be serving in Woodinville, WA.

Here is part of Elder Whipple's message:
"Hey sorry it took awhile to get you these pictures! Good news is Elder Gillen is in my Zone!!! His Comp is a District leader so I will get to see him quite often! His comp is Elder Baxter and he is a great missionary. he is serving in the Woodinville 2nd ward. Great ward and a great place to be! I was soooo excited to see him at transfers. When I opened the door he was right there waiting for me to come see him! All his buddies were jealous. He is looking great and is super excited to be out here. Tell Sister Gillen that he is safe and sound and all is well. "
The pictures posted here are from Elder Whipple also.

Recieving his mission call

Jordan received his mission call on December 24, 2010.  He recieved a phone call at 9:30 AM  from our local postman that the letter was at the post office and he could come pick it up right then and not have to wait until regular mail delivery at 3:00 PM.  DeRon and I were already on the road to town so we went to the post office and collected the much anticipated letter.

In the mean time, Jordan called his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins to be there when he opened his letter.

It took almost two hours to get everyone to the house but it was worth the wait.

Jordan will serve for 2 years in the the Washington Everette Mission.  He will report to the MTC on April 27, 2011.
